Holiday Lights: putting code on the biggest stage
Today, less than 1% of girls study Computer Science. In a world that’s increasingly digital, that’s a major gap in future innovation. So Google partnered with the White House to show what’s possible when girls code. As part of the National Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony in Washington, D.C., girls across the country were invited to create code-powered designs that lit up the trees—turning a national stage into a glowing celebration of creativity and possibility.

NYFW:
Zac Posen LED dress.
After the holiday lights, we brought code to another iconic stage: New York Fashion Week.
We teamed up with designer Zac Posen and developer Maddy Maxey to create the first-ever LED dress to debut on the NYFW runway. Girls could visit the Made With Code site to program millions of unique light patterns, which were then brought to life on the dress in real time. With no paid media, the activation earned 240 million media impressions—and more importantly, introduced nearly 800,000 girls to code.

Starbucks:
emoji coffee.
Ahead of World Emoji Day, we found a way to bring coding to one of girls' favorite after-school hangouts: Starbucks. We partnered with the brand to let girls code personalized emojis—reflecting different styles, moods, and future careers—on the Made With Code site. Then, they could see their creations printed right on their drinks. It was a simple, joyful way to meet girls where they are—and show them that code belongs in their everyday lives.
